This is an absolute nightmare to set up properly and download all the software across all the bits of hardware, but once going, it’s great. Lightweight, but it still feels very premium. Accuracy is awesome. Would highly recommend the Net Return
I purchased the Mevo gen 2 with pro package+ face detection. Let's start with the pros,
Pros.
this is a fantastic product, the detail and metrics is extremely good and detailed, set up is fairly easy and intuitive and the ability to download the data which I then just feed into chatgpt to analyse is easy to do. The face detection is impressive and the ability to record your swing works great too. It's all round great product. Also plus that there is no subscriptions, main reason I got it.
Cons.
Initial set up connects to its wifi which means you don't have internet, although you can reconfigure this to connect to your regular wifi this is a pain to set up and really should be the default. On-top of that I've set it up multiple times and seems to revert back to its wifi connection. Half the times I set the unit up it works flawlessly without a hitch the other half the time it misses heaps of metrics in particular the face detection. I have an outdoor set up that does not move, essentially all conditions the same and it a coin toss if it will work or not. On those days I usually spend at least half an hour trying to fix it till I give up. I have had it working perfectly in full sun, shade, sun gowing down but then next time in better conditions will only read half of the face detections. All settings the same. The app although easy and intuitive just lacks good consistency. Some days I'll have trouble connecting and the fact I can't usually get it to work on my home wifi means I can't just google my issues as I then have to disconnect and reconnect to wifi as I don't get cellular where I am. The fact you can't download the data straight from the app is also a little annoying as you have to wait for it all to sync and upload to the website so you can then download it from there. Seems like a complicated way of doing things. The next app issue is you can use your phone to record your shots which means your phone is behind the mevo so you can't see the screen for tracking data, this in itself is obvious but I'd expect you could connect 2 devices, 1 to show metrics and 1 to record. It lets you record with 2 devices but doesn't let you set one as a display while recording.
Overall I think this is a fantastic device with pretty poor app and connection software. Which is a shame because it does a disservice to the actual device itself. Maybe indoors or outdoors without a net will result in better consistentcy but I doubt it as this is not ball tracking but contact data. I really hope they put more effort into the app in future and I believe maybe Bluetooth in conjunction with the wifi would probably be a smart choice in future. Would I buy again? Probably yes as painful as it is to use, when it is good it is good.
